To write about The Still Small Voice. March 2023 I have a simple goal. To write about The Still Small Voice. The Still Small Voice that is within every single person. And I feel the irony in writing about The Still Small Voice on the internet. The Still Small voice is not found on the internet (or on social media, or in text chains or phone calls.) But The Still Small Voice does respond and have things to say about all of those things – which is why I’m here. And why I’m here simply – on a simple platform…

August 2023 As I’ve mentioned before, we can tell. Why are we out here doing this internet thing? And why do I keep repeating myself? Because it bears repeating. Intention matters. As I’ve been clarifying my own path and my own desires, I’ve been digging back to some of my inspirational people. Some still hold the title, some are in a different phase of their journey (and I’m grateful for the time I got to share), some have gone sideways and I’m not sure I even knew the person in the first place. It’s all good – everyone gets to…

August 2023 There are so many different ways and tools out there for what I call: “Still Small Voice Whispering.” Most of them are usually categorized under relax, flow, self-care, journaling and being kind. But there have been times in my life where no matter how much relaxation, meditation, silence and solitude I get, I don’t get anything from The Still Small Voice. This usually occurs after a time period of high stress and anxiety where I shut myself down for weeks or months on end, just to “get the job done.” I do this all the time even though…

July 2023 As I’ve mentioned in past posts, I’m not great at acting all the time with my Still Small Voice. I shared with a co-worker that if things in my life are messed up, it is not God’s fault (that’s the terminology that made sense for them). Or that it is not The Still Small Voice’s fault. The next step will be clear, simple and easy. The Still Small Voice says: “Step on the X in front of you.” I say: “Nope. I’m going to step to the right onto the Y instead. I want to see what happens.”…

June 2023 Listening to The Still Small Voice can get a bad rap. How many people have you heard of or talked to that made a seemingly insane, unhealthy or irresponsible choice that said “I just know I have to do this? I don’t have a good reason. I know I just have to.” (PS: I have been one of those insane people but stay with me.) You listen, trying to be patient but you really want to shake them and yell “What is wrong with you?! Have you thought this through at all?!” I am a default Billy Joel…

June 2023 How can you tell when you are hearing The Still Small Voice or if your brain and/or all of your societal, social and cultural conditioning has taken over? The Still Small Voice is your inner knowing – it may speak, or show you a picture, or give you a sensory sensation. It may do all or none of those things. It may be consistent and sometimes it may do lots of different things. (I call that the “I need to get your attention because you aren’t listening to me” tactic.) It may seem like your brain and your…

July 2023 I was fascinated this past Sunday by the Biblioracle’s latest post: Where Did Our Authorities Go? https://biblioracle.substack.com/p/where-did-our-authorities-go?utm_source=substack&utm_campaign=post_embed&utm_medium=web And fascinated enough to write a response as his final questions were: “So, tell me, what do you trust? Who do you trust? How do you work through the turbulence when you realize something you believed might not actually be true? Share your wisdom in the comments for the benefit of all.” I remember interacting with a similar question from Danielle LaPorte years ago when I was reading The Desire Map multiple times a year. It guided me through some personally…

And do we listen to the still small voice? July 2023 The definition of the word listen from American-Heritage Dictionary via Google (because everything is via Google): 1) To make an effort to hear something. 2) To pay attention; heed. 3) To give close attention with the purpose of hearing; to give ear; to hearken; to attend. So listening is not just hearing. How many things do you hear (and subsequently block out) in a day? In a week? In a year? The Still Small Voice is not the TV news, the book club pick, or your Instagram and Facebook…

What an elementary school project taught me about life… June 2023 From The Enchanted Life, Sharon Blackie… “The messages are clear: sometimes, you have to step off the path you are so determinedly striding along and learn a few more skills. And learn them properly – through your own lived experience, not experience copied from others; and by continuing to learn for however long is necessary, from someone who really knows. These stories tell us that sometimes it’s okay to feel that you’re not progressing, because, as we’ve already seen, the myth of progress is another of those profoundly pernicious…

There is this myth out there (and I’ve probably helped perpetuate it at times, I’m sorry.) June 2023 The myth is that listening and acting on your Still Small Voice will solve everything and it will all be easy. HAH! Usually, listening and acting on your Still Small voice causes frustration, sadness, anger, chaos, disruption and all around panic. (Aren’t you so excited now? Can’t wait?) We live in such times that it is easy to be buried in and overwhelmed by choices and ideas that we never consciously chose. Trying to be conscious can be by itself an overwhelming…
