Is it The Still Small Voice or something else?

How can you tell when you are hearing The Still Small Voice or if your brain and/or all of your societal, social and cultural conditioning has taken over? The Still Small Voice is your inner knowing – it may speak, or show you a picture, or give you a sensory sensation.  It may do all or none of those things.  It may be consistent and sometimes it may do lots of different things.  (I call that the “I need to get your attention because you aren’t listening to me” tactic.)  It may seem like your brain and your body are…

Listening and Interacting – Do you believe what you hear/read?

I was fascinated this past Sunday by the Biblioracle’s latest post: Where Did Our Authorities Go? https://biblioracle.substack.com/p/where-did-our-authorities-go?utm_source=substack&utm_campaign=post_embed&utm_medium=web  And fascinated enough to write a response as his final questions were: “So, tell me, what do you trust? Who do you trust? How do you work through the turbulence when you realize something you believed might not actually be true? Share your wisdom in the comments for the benefit of all.” I remember interacting with a similar question from Danielle LaPorte years ago when I was reading The Desire Map multiple times a year.  It guided me through some personally troubling times.…

What does listening to The Still Small Voice really mean?

And do we listen to the still small voice? The definition of the word listen from American-Heritage Dictionary via Google (because everything is via Google): 1)  To make an effort to hear something.  2) To pay attention; heed.  3) To give close attention with the purpose of hearing; to give ear; to hearken; to attend. So listening is not just hearing. How many things do you hear (and subsequently block out) in a day? In a week? In a year?  The Still Small Voice is not the TV news, the book club pick, or your Instagram and Facebook feeds. It…

You can feel your feelings, whatever they may be…

“You should smile more!” & the relief of grey days Leaving the woods after my walks, I am always jarred stepping back on the road and into “civilization.” I’ve had access to these woods for years but only found out/had the courage to explore about 4 years ago. And even though I have easy free access to them, I still don’t go back there as much as I want. Which is silly. Because there is never a bad walk in the woods. There is always a good walk in the woods.  Why am I not stacking the deck for me? …

Myth of Progress vs. Time of Lived Experience

What an elementary school project taught me about life… From The Enchanted Life, Sharon Blackie… “The messages are clear: sometimes, you have to step off the path you are so determinedly striding along and learn a few more skills.  And learn them properly – through your own lived experience, not experience copied from others; and by continuing to learn for however long is necessary, from someone who really knows.  These stories tell us that sometimes it’s okay to feel that you’re not progressing, because, as we’ve already seen, the myth of progress is another of those profoundly pernicious myths which…

Follow your Passion…and you will get a happy ending *Snark*

There is this myth out there (and I’ve probably helped perpetuate it at times, I’m sorry.)  The myth is that listening and acting on your Still Small Voice will solve everything and it will all be easy. HAH!  Usually, listening and acting on your Still Small voice causes frustration, sadness, anger, chaos, disruption and all around panic.  (Aren’t you so excited now? Can’t wait?)  We live in such times that it is easy to be buried in and overwhelmed by choices and ideas that we never consciously chose. Trying to be conscious can be by itself an overwhelming task. (Why…

    Intent Matters

Why and how to share… We do a lot of sharing on the internet. It’s kind of the Internet’s thing. Some of the sharing is good. Some of the sharing is bad. Most of it is somewhere in-between and in the eye of the beholder.  And lots of it we would all probably be better off not sharing, no matter what the beholder decides. ANYWAY… Why do we share it? In sharing (because we are going to do it anyway), let’s do it right…intent matters. Intent matters. Because: 1) Sometimes we get lulled into thinking that THAT platform, or in…

Sources of Knowledge for The Still Small Voice

Beware the “knowledge selling”… I am seeing many more people turning back into and toward their Still Small Voice. It heartens me that as a society we are moving away, not just from materialism (because that’s not the problem, just a symptom) but unconsciousness. However, I’m noticing that the new mode “Listen to yourself, listen to the voice inside” is coming with a heavy dose of: Which is all wrapped up in lots of absurd marketing malarkey. It’s crazy.  Interior wisdom (listening to yourself) cannot be sold or bought. Let me say it again… Interior wisdom (listening to yourself) cannot…

What is The Still Small Voice?

What is The Still Small Voice? What do I mean (and we, collectively mean) when I/we say Still Small Voice? You may already have a good idea of what I’m talking about…but let’s look at it anyway. The Still Small Voice is that Still Small Voice inside you. You may know it in different ways: Such as:  -The voice that tells you not to go out tonight  -The instinct not to walk alone to your car at night  -The compulsion to walk around the house one more time before you leave and you notice the stove is still on These…

    I have a simple goal.

To write about The Still Small Voice. I have a simple goal. To write about The Still Small Voice. The Still Small Voice that is within every single person. And I feel the irony in writing about The Still Small Voice on the internet. The Still Small voice is not found on the internet (or on social media, or in text chains or phone calls.) But The Still Small Voice does respond and have things to say about all of those things – which is why I’m here. And why I’m here simply – on a simple platform – because…
